• Remember that not all abdominal pain is pain originating from an abdominal organ. Epigastric abdominal pain can be referred cardiac chest pain, especially in the elderly female patient. Have a low threshold to obtain an EKG as patients with ACS presenting with abdominal pain are often missed. • Rectus hematoma often occur in patients on anticoagulation +/- minor trauma. Definitive treatment is IR consultation for coiling. • Increased incidence of pancreatitis during the holiday season. To assess severity of pancreatitis in the ED and predict the severe pancreatitis with persistent organ failure > 48 hours, consider using BISAP score (BUN, Impaired mental status, SIRS, Age > 60, Pleural effusion). 3-5 points portends higher mortality. • Hepatic adenomas: woman commonly have them. Men should have them resected because they have a high rate of malignant transformation. in the emergency room, remember that
