The Baltimore VA Medical Center is located on the University of Maryland, Baltimore campus, across the street from, and connected by a bridge to, the University of Maryland Medical Center. The facility is a relative newcomer to the downtown landscape, officially opening its doors in January 1993, though the Baltimore VA Medical Center has been here for decades. The facility provides the most current technology; it was the first medical facility in the world to create a filmless radiology department. The emergency department maintains a staff of board-certified/board-eligible physicians who are proud to serve our nation’s veterans. The physicians on staff are members of the University of Maryland School of Medicine Department of Emergency Medicine faculty. They are involved in resident and medical student teaching (both bedside and didactic), research, department leadership, and many other department activities.
