EMS Balt Co Fire Dept

Baltimore County encompasses 610 square miles of urban, suburban, and rural land with a population of over 800,000 citizens served.  The Fire

Department is comprised of 25 career stations with 1100 members, and 33 volunteer stations with over 2000 members.  Each volunteer company

is a private, independent organization. The Fire Department responds to approximately 120,000 calls per year, more than 70% of which are

medical calls.  The EMS Division contains 48 Advanced Life Support units (31 career and 17 volunteer) and all career engines and trucks are

EMT and AED equipped.  Providers are either EMT (1600), CRT-I (90), or EMT-P certified (360).

The EMS leadership consists of the EMS Bureau Chief Danielle Knatz, the Medical Director Dr. Jeff Nusbaum,  Deputy Medical Director Dr Morgen

Bernius,  and Assistant Medical Directors Drs, Jenny Guyther, Matt Levy, Sean Berenholtz, and Jeffrey Sagel.   There are 8 EMS Shift Commanders.

These Captains ride as “EMS 1" or "EMS 7"  and supervise shifts A-D.  There are 24 Lieutenants who work as EMS District Officers riding as “EMS 2,
