• If you suspect there has been a preventable error related to EMS personnel or have any concerns about patient safety related to EMS, please discuss concerns with the providers in a calm, professional manner away from patient’s hearing. Please also contact Facility Base Station Nurse Coordinator, Pennye Arthemise Jones ajones19@umm.edu, as well as Medical Director, Dr. Jennifer Guyther jguyther@som.umaryland.edu • Remember, all EMS Protocols are in the binder in the ED near the EMS radio phone for your reference of all protocols and also lists important info such as medications that can be given and the doses. • Remember, the majority of personnel staffing Maryland ambulance are Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT). Know their skills, capabilities and limitations: BLS can provide basic life support while ALS providers can intubate, place IOs and give many more drugs.
