There are many medical disorder and ingestion that can lead to change in urine colors. 

Black discoloration of urine can be caused by:

Medication

  • Alpha-methyldopa
  • Cresol
  • Iron
  • Laxatives (cascara, senna)
  • L-dopa
  • Methocarbamol
  • Metronidazole
  • Nitrofurantoin
  • Sorbitol

Medical condition

  • Alcaptonuria
  • Metastatic melanoma
  • Pophyria
