By the end of this session, learners should be able to: 1. Recognize atypical presentations of common abdominal emergencies, including mesenteric ischemia, myocardial infarction, and small bowel obstruction. 2. Understand the diagnostic approach to abdominal pain in pregnant patients, particularly those undergoing assisted reproductive technologies, and recognize the risk of heterotopic pregnancy. 3. Apply appropriate use of imaging and laboratory studies in the evaluation of abdominal pain, including indications for plain films, CT, and bedside ultrasound. 4. Emphasize the importance of early analgesia in the management of abdominal pain without compromising diagnostic accuracy.
