- Mask-like face
- Eyelid weakness
-- leads to ptosis
-- exacerbated by sustained upward gaze
-- improved by closing the eyes for a short while
- Extraocular motion abnormality
-- usually affects more than one extraocular muscle
-- may be assymetrical
-- may result in mild proptosis
- Weak palatal muscles
