Academic Activities and Responsibilities

Hey there! My name is Stephen Shaheen and I'm a categorical EM resident here at the University of Maryland.

I was born and raised in Rocky Mount, NC, a remarkable city best known for being on Interstate 95. From there, I migrated an hour south to Greenville, where I studied biology and sports as an undergraduate at East Carolina University. Following graduation, AmeriCorps came calling and I spent a year in the western part of my home state helping to set up a community service program at a two-year college. I liked being a pirate so much that I returned; four years later I recieved my medical degree from the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University.

On a more personal note, I love both playing and watching sports (especially hockey and college basketball) in addition to skiing, hiking/camping, and sailing. If I'm not outside, you can catch me reading books on history or playing video games.

Please feel free to email me any questions or concerns you might have. Good luck and we hope to see you at the University of Maryland!
