Academic Activities and Responsibilities

Hi! I am 3rd year resident, getting ready for the real world... but not quite there yet.
A little background on me: I am from Ohio, but by no means I would not say that this state defines me. I did go to school at University of Miami in Oxford, Ohio (not Miami, Florida) which I thought was great fun and also a very pretty school. I was sad to leave and have to focus on a picking a career. I then proceeded to go to The Ohio State University for medical school. I have since become a Buckeye, and a very avid one at that.
I came to Maryland because I loved the program, and I was motivated by my desperation to leave Ohio for at least a little while. Don't get me wrong, its fine and all, but I personally can only take so much cornfields. I like city life and feeling the pulse of city life.
I would have to say what separates me apart from everyone, and what I can talk non-stop about, is my Italian background. Having an Italian mother who forced me to become bilingual and travel to Italy every summer was traumatic (not!), but awesome experience. I love going back and seeing my relatives and experiencing the country. For me, going to Italy is like going to my second home. Its great! Once finished with residency, I hope to spend more time there, and who knows, maybe have some kind of Emergency medicine role there as well.
As result, I absolutely love traveling and exploring new cultures, food and learning their history. And I have a strong interest with International Emergency Medicine as well... we shall see what happens.
