Stephen R. Thom, MD, PhD, Professor of Emergency Medicine and our department’s Director of Research studies the role of vasculogenic stem cells in diabetic wound healing, nitric oxide in cytoskeletal regulation of neutrophil β2 adhesion molecules, and pro-inflammatory microparticles in the pathophysiology of decompression sickness. His work is funded by the National Institutes of Health, the Office of Naval Research, and the US Air Force.
