Michael A. Grasso, MD, PhD, is an Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine, with a PhD in Computer Science. He is the Director of the Clinical Informatics Group at the University of Maryland School of Medicine. He has more than 20 years of experience in clinical informatics and is board certified in that field, with emphasis on software engineering, clinical decision support, and clinical data mining. His current research interests focus on patient safety and the quality of emergency medical care, suicide and mental health issues in emergency medicine, and the application of big data analytics to chronic disease management. Dr. Grasso has authored more than 45 refereed publications and has received more than $2 million in grant and contract funding.
