Course Description: This half-day course is designed for any health care provider who wishes to learn or become more familiar with the use of ultrasound in a critically ill patient. The lecture portion will cover ultrasound guided vascular access and the Rapid Ultrasound in Shock (RUSH) examination. During the workshop portion, participants will use a vascular phantom to practice ultrasound guided vascular access. They will also be taught and practice the RUSH exam using human models. 
 
Learning Objectives: Upon completion of the workshop, participants will be able to:
  1. Demonstrate the ability to operate the basic controls of an ultrasound machine
  2. Understand venous anatomy as relevant to vascular access
  3. Understand how to use ultrasound to assist in the placement of peripheral and central venous catheters
  4. Understand and be able to perform the components of the RUSH examination
